International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27th

January 27th is a key date in Holocaust remembrance. On this day in 1945, Soviet troops liberated Auschwitz, the largest of the extermination camps, where Nazis murdered millions of Jews and other victims of their persecution. In 2005, the United Nations designated January 27th as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
